When must wet drywall be replaced?

Drywall exposed to contaminated water, sewage, or floodwater is normally removed, because it cannot be cleaned reliably. The same goes for drywall that stays wet for days, which loses strength and becomes a mold substrate. A good rule of thumb: the earlier the response and the cleaner the water, the better the odds of saving it; the longer it sits, the more certain removal becomes.

How do professionals dry a wall from the inside?

Restoration drying opens the wall cavity with controlled openings, then uses air movers and dehumidifiers to pull moisture out of the framing and the back of the drywall. Moisture readings track progress until the cavity reaches a dry standard, and only then is the wall closed up and painted.
